Deschutes River - Lower - October 31st, 2011

 Stoneflye Nymphs, October Caddis, Prince, Pheasant Tail, Lightning Bug, Serendipity, Sculpins, Copper Johns, Rockworm

Steelhead:
Shimmer with eyes, Hobo Spey, Strung Out Beach Bum, Last Call, Street Walker, Cheeseburger, Steelhead Lightning Bug, Steelhead Rockworm.

The deschutes fishing is starting to heat back up with the cooler weather. Hatches should be going off such as PMD's, BWO's, Mahogony duns, yellow sallys, and caddis. Nymphing deep will be the most productive method while the suns on the water.

Steelheading is hot right now. The large majority of fish being caught right now are still in the very lower section between Mack's Canyon and the mouth. There are definitely fish being caught in maupin and above, but not in great numbers. It's only a matter of time before we start to see good pods in the warmsprings to troutcreek section.

 BWO, mahogany duns, october caddis, caddis, stone nymphs, ped
flies: pheasant tail, hares ear, sparkle pupa, fox's poopah, soft hackle, angle case bwo and pmd
Lower D continues to be slow for trout fishing due to heat. Hopefully cold weather is upon us and the fishing begins to increase. 

Steelheading was good, but due to the white river being blown out, is has come to a slow. Now we just sit, wait and hope for the white to clear.

 Stonefly nymphs, PMD, PED, caddis, sparkle pupa, fox's poopah, soft hackles, prince, serendipity, pheasant tail, angel case BWO, yellow sally nymphs, purple haze.
The trout fishing has been pretty slow since the heat, but fishing deep can be productive. Look for rising fish in the evenings, mostly likely on caddis.
Steelhead fishing has been good. Lots of fish being hooked in the Pintree to the mouth stretch.

 The fishing has been slowing down since the temperatures have been very high. Still, fish can be caught. PMD's and caddis are still hanging around. Stonefly nymphs with attractor nymphs can be productive if fished deep, at least until the fish start coming up to caddis in the evening. 
Steelhead on the other hand has only been getting better. More and more fish have been making there way up to Maupin.

 The Lower has been starting to slow down with the heat of the summer setting in. Still, there are PED's, PMD's, Caddis, Salmonfly and Golden Stone nymphs in the river. Nymphing with stones and a dropper of a lightning bug, flashback pheasant tail, hares ear, sparkle pupa, and fox's poopa is effective.
