Fishing Reports

The water is pretty warm from Bend to Lake Billy Chinook. I don't like sending people here right now, but the good news is that we have some cooler nights plus a cool weekend instore so things might improve pretty fast.
If you are going, plan on Purple Haze, Renegades, PMD's, BWO's, some limited caddis hatches and small nymphs. Go in the evening or early morning for the best luck and take a water temperature with a thermometer. If it is over 67 don't fish.

the hoppers are out and we are picking up fish on hoppers with a small prince nymph as a dropper. Other flies that are good are parachute adams, blue wing olives, mahogany duns, skinny nelson, angel case emerger and ju ju baetis.

Three Creeks and Lost Lake are both good. The callibaetis hatch is strong along with good to great evening travelling sedge hatches. Chironomids, Leeches and Damsels are also suggested. Up at 3 Creeks the ants (including flying ants) are also productive.

Between me and the other shop guys and regualr Metolius friends I have to say we just ended what was one heck of a good week of catching fish. The neat thing is the catch was spread out between all of us from the Headwater area down below Bridge 99 a little and were caught on all sorts of stuff. Here is the list: PMD's, Blue Wing Olives, Golden Stone dries and Nymphs, Comparaduns, Soft Hackle PT's and Rusty Spinner's. Probably more than that, but that is what I remember from the week. No doubt it will be all the same bugs for the next several weeks!
Yes, Bull Trout fishing is good and streamers are taking some excellent fish.

We are seeing some good fishing in the upper stretches and middle stretches of the Mac and we are catching a number of fish on Dries which adds to the fun.

Mornings and Evenings. Stay late! Look for big caddis and tiny cream mayflies, callibaetis and damsels and don't forget your ants and some leech patterns.
