Fishing Reports
Fall River - July 17th, 2010
- Recorded:
- 85 ° F
- Fishing: Good
During the day you'll see periods of hatch activety including PMD, caddis, Yellow Sally, Little Green Stones and terrestrials. For non hatch times you can still get a fish to the surface on a Lady Di but you'll really want to try a Rufus, a Lead Eye Egg and some sort of a dropper behind them like a Roxy Rainbow, Kyle's Yellow Sally, PT, serendipity, and pretty much any BWO or PMD nymph you can think of.
Evening fishing is even better with more caddis coming out and good chances of rusty spinner falls right before dark.

Deschutes River - Lower - July 17th, 2010
- Recorded:
- 90 ° F
- Fishing: Great
Here is the Trout Report followed by the Steelhead report:
We are having good days on the Lower from Warm Springs to Trout Creek. Throughout the day we are getting most of the fish on Caddis Pupa and small bead head nymphs. In the evening the fish are coming up to PMD's, PED's, Caddis and Rusty Spinners.
We are into our 2010 steelhead season with a couple of Mack's to the Mouth trips under our belts. The fish are just coming in but it looks like it is going to be another great year. Last week the Steelhead count was 244% above last years count (year to date) at Bonneville Dam. Anyway, we got 12 fish on the 2nd trip and 4 on the 1st so it is a good start and only going to improve from here.

Deschutes River - Upper - July 17th, 2010
- Recorded:
- 84 ° F
- Fishing: Good
The Upper River above Crane Prairie is fishing well, mostly for small Brook Trout. We are also seeing some nicer Brookies and Rainbow's in this stretch too. We are fishing attractor dries and terrestrials along with little bead head nymphs and a tungsten headed streamer called a Rufus.
Crooked River - July 17th, 2010
- Recorded:
- 85 ° F
- Fishing: Fair
We are having mixed reports....some days are good and some days not so much. It kind of depends on how much moss is in the drift. Little Nymphs like the Skinny Nelson, Beer Head Baetis, Zebra Midge and Serendipities are all good. Don't forget scuds, cased caddis and your dry flies. Renegade, Adams, Brown Haze and Sparkle Dun are all productive for the surface.
Crane Prairie Reservoir - July 5th, 2010
- Recorded:
- 85 ° F
- Fishing: Good
The Rock Creek and Quinn river areas are still seeing good fishing on Callibaetis, Chironomids, Damsels and Leeches.
Callibaetis hatch times vary but be in the water by 8 am and plan on staying thru lunch. Damsel migration is about the same time and is best around the trees.
Chironomid fishing under an indicator is a great bet, especially in the channels.

The "big" stuff is done and we are now into summer mode: That means PMD's, Caddis and Pale Evening Duns.
For Nymphs we've been having good luck on caddis pupa, PT's, angel case emergers, soft hackles and icy princes.
Don't forget your Purple Haze dries!
