Dan Anthon - Head Guide
Dan has been guiding fly fishers and white water enthusiasts since 1997, and is always excited to share his passion with his clients. Dan was raised upon the shores of North Lake Tahoe, and began fly fishing the local creeks and rivers with his father and brothers at the age of eight. Dan studied Fisheries Biology and Entomology at Humboldt State, and also taught the Introductory Fly Fishing course at the University. Dan received his certification in Casting Instruction from the Federation of Fly Fishers and has also worked as a Fisheries Biologist on the rivers of Ventura County, CA. Dan relocated to Bend, OR in the spring of 2007 with his family to join the team at The Fly Fishers Place. When he's not out on a river, Dan heads for the saltwater; and has spent time fishing the surf lines of Belize, the Caribbean island of Bonaire, Baja California and the Yucatan Peninsula. Dan has also spent the winter months fishing both the North and South Islands of New Zealand for monster brown trout.

Steve Erickson
Steve started fly fishing around the age of seven when his Dad took him to fish the small streams in northwestern Pennsylvania. These streams are the place where he first saw aquatic insects and the trout that feed on them. After high school he studied aquatic ecology and entomology at The Evergreen State College. After an MBA and a stint in the corporate world he decided that pursuing a passion that would suit his soul better than pursuing a dollar at the expense of his soul would be a good idea. Fate and a little social manipulation resulted in a move to Sisters and his present position with The Fly Fishers Place. Steve is our number one McKenzie Guide and is a very accomplished spey caster and instructor.
Travis Lucas (bio in progress)
Travis is our newest guide at FFP in 2010. He is one of those young guys that comes around every so often that fits perfectly in the mix regardless of age. At 26 he has already traveled the world as a mechanic on the Pro Mountain Bike tour but now he is ready to follow his true passion and guide fly fisher's as much as he can.![]()
Todd Williver
Todd is nearly a native of the Central Oregon region. Although not born here, he's lived in Central Oregon for 40 years. He cut his teeth stalking the local waterways in pusuit of local trout, but today freely admits that today it's the variety the keeps him coming back. Trips with Todd are sure to yeild a mix of local lore and fishing stories, neither of which are necessarily true. Todd is pleased that many of his clients have become fast friends over the years. "I enjoy my friends coming back year after year. Dinner and wine the night before we fish is quite often as fun as the fishing day itself." Besides guiding, 2 beautiful daughters, ski coaching, trying to master his golf game plus a full time job with Oregon State University keep Todd very busy.
Joe is our Multi-day float guide and is an expert oarsman in whitewater. Joe and Steelhead seem connected in ways the rest of us may never understand. Besides Fly Fishing you might find Joe coaching his kids in little league or bird hunting in the fall. His guiding style is very fun and Joe is often requested for repeat trips year after year.
Greg Burke
Greg is new to the Fly Fisher's Place in 2009 but a long time friend of ours. Greg guided with Whitewater &Wild Fish for ten years on the Deschutes, John Day river and the high lakes. Greg began fly fishing seriously upon moving to Bend in 1981. He's one of those guys who believes that just being on the river is the main attraction. Greg is an accomplished Photographer who sometimes finds it hard deciding to fish or take pictures. Greg is an excellent fly angler, camp host and teacher and we are sure you will enjoy his company on multi day trips this season.
Ron Thompson
Ron is another long time friend of the Fly Fisher's Place plus the long time guide/owner of the Blackwater River Guide Service in British Columbia. Ron lives in Tumalo and is partners with his cousin Maynard Davis in a guide service here, Afishionados, Inc and operate the Guide Service FFP works with on the Upper Deschutes, Fall River and the Cascade Lakes. Ron is a great guide and will be focusing on the Lakes and Upper Deschutes. You will always find smile on Ron's face.
Crow Black
Crow is another great guide and is always fun to work with. We use Crow on the Lower Deschutes for single day trips and also on several of the walk and wade trips on small streams.
Crow is also an accomplished Potter and is a BMW motorcycle fanatic.
Clell Gibson
Clell has been guiding for the Fly Fisher's Place since 1988. He is full of energy, history and fish stories. Clell specializes on the Lower Deschutes and knows the changes each part of the season can bring to the river. A founding member of the Church of the Eternal Steelhead you will find Clell and all the Apostles at "Church" every October, worshiping Steelhead. Clell is a very accomplished musician and can bust the guitar out at camp and entertain everyone. Clell also co-owns a local Phone Company so he works as one of our back up guides whenever he can.
Dove Gibson
Dove is one of the sweetest people we know...but the Trout and Steelhead might not agree. She reels them in one after another and is called "la machina de pesca". Seriously, this lady has the touch!
She is an amazing cook, learning that skill from her Mom while working alongside the crew in the kitchen at the Famous Steamboat Inn on the North Umpqua River where she grew up. Now most of her time is spent as the National Sales manager for Ruffwear she still guides for the shop on request and when she has the time.
